Mentoring is exactly how yoga was passed on from teacher to student in the not too distant past. As a mentee you are given guidance and support and this is a natural part of the evolution and interconnected web of teaching yoga. An ongoing way of ensuring we are accountable and continuing to develop ourselves as teachers and students. Becoming a mentee is a wonderful way of receiving the guidance that is so necessary for all yoga teachers.
At Juma Health & Yoga we offer a unique programme of Mentoring. In the recent history of yoga in the western world yoga teacher trainings have become a dime a dozen, sometimes 100, 150 or 200 hours. Amanda knows from her own experience that following her first 500 hour teacher training she found herself ‘floundering’ in a sea of ‘not knowing’ how to deal with certain aspects of being a yoga teacher and how to juggle the demands of teaching. She followed that first 500 hour with another 500 hour training and continues to seek out support and training as she requires it. This yoga teaching gig can look appealing and fancy but it can be tough at times – particularly when life throws us curves balls and more specifically when we don’t have the skills to deal with what is in front of us.
Amanda is currently offer one to one mentoring and small group mentoring so as to give each mentee the time he/she needs to the develop and grow into a competent and well-rounded yoga teacher. Amanda has been teaching near to 20 years and practices well beyond that. She has travelled through various stages of her life with yoga as her companion and has found the practice has changed and evolved through those stages.
Currently Amanda is offering one to one Mentoring as a way of continuing development and support. She is hoping to encourage and inspire the next crew of Yoga Teachers coming through – supporting them to be their own unique offering into the yoga world.
Amanda is a Registered Mentor with Yoga Australia. If you interested in becoming a Mentee please email Amanda on amanda@jumahealthandyoga.com.au. Consider where you require support and guidance and we can make a time to chat.
Interactive group mentoring programmes will begin a little later in 2020, running over a 6 month period. Subscribe to our newsletter to stay in the loop.
